Shidoshi r. Threz Gonzalez
Sensei Gonzalez is the head teacher of the School of Smiling Tiger. He began training in various martial arts since the age of 15 but began training in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu while in San Antonio in 1999. He travels to Japan as often as life permits to train with Hatsumi Soke, Someya Dai Shihan, and Nagato Dai Shihan. He currently holds a 5th degree black belt in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and is licensed from Japan to teach. God has given him the eyes to see the value this art brings to the world and the opportunity to meet many great people. Sensei Gonzalez continues to be a student under his teachers and strives to pass his knowledge to the next generation.
Shidoshi Dushaun Tran
Assistant Teacher 'D' has been studying Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu in Houston since 2006 and became Sensei Gonzalez's student in 2009. He began his studies in Japanese Jujutsu with Sensei Ham in 2019. As impossible as it may be, 'D' strives for perfection in his personal training in order to set a good example for other students.
Dai SHIHAN Dean Rostohar
Dean Rostohar is a Dai Shihan in the Bujinkan and the Dōjō Chō of the Bujinkan Seishin Dōjō in Croatia. He is also a Croatian Special Operations veteran, founder of the Specwog combat system, and is known for his expertise in various weapon systems and real life application of traditional martial arts. We regularly host and attend events with Dai Shihan Rostohar. He continues to be an invaluable source of training and knowledge for our school.
Sensei Terry Ham
Although Sensei Terry Ham does not teach at our school, we honor him here. He has been Sensei Gonzalez's friend for many years and has given us great insight into the art. Sensei Ham holds high ranking in many martial arts, including the Bujinkan, Asayama Ichiden Ryu, Daito Ryu, Danzan Ryu, and more. Dushaun also studies traditional Jujutsu under Sensei Ham.
